Moving Pillsbury Forward acquires former Pillsbury Mills site

Friends,

Moving Pillsbury Forward (MPF) has acquired the 18-acre former Pillsbury Mills site.

A press conference to deliver details was held at the Pillsbury site (1525 Phillips Ave.) on Wednesday, March 30 at 11:00 am.

A press tour of newly accessible portions of the site took place at 10:00 am (one hour prior to the press conference) on Wednesday, March 30.

The property acquisition phase of the MPF redevelopment plan is complete. The next phase of the project will focus on site safety and security along with needed environmental testing. A community meeting will be scheduled in the coming weeks to provide details about the project and seek public input regarding the site’s future.

MPF formed as a registered not-for-profit corporation in October 2020 after beginning as a community working group in November 2019 to study the former Pillsbury site’s public safety and known environmental issues and develop recommendations for long-term solutions. After a year of study and collaboration with community stakeholders and elected officials, formation of a not-for-profit presented the most viable path for achieving a workable and successful long-term redevelopment solution for the community.

MPF’s purpose is to facilitate community redevelopment to successfully eliminate and prevent blight in and around the former Pillsbury Mills site at 1525 E. Phillips Ave. in Springfield, Illinois.

Please, visit our website and consider how you can help our community achieve the benefits of redevelopment at the former Pillsbury Mills site. Let’s get this done!
